Arie is the son of two-time Indy 500 Champion Arie Luyendyk, Sr. From 2002 through 2008 Arie made 62 starts in the Firestone Indy Lights Series finishing in the top ten a remarkable 76% of the time, including winning the final race of the 2008 season.  Arie was also voted the Firestone Indy Lights Most Popular Driver four years in a row.

Arie made his Indy 500 debut in 2006, and in 2007 he represented Team Netherlands in the A1GP Championship.

In 2009 Arie is in the television booth as an analyst for VERSUS TV’s coverage of the Firestone Indy Lights Championship. 

One of Arie’s proudest moments was in December 2008, when he traveled to Iraq and Kuwait to visit U.S. military bases and spend time with U.S. servicemen and women serving abroad.
